The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning until 8:30 A.M.

At 5:22 A.M. Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area.  Up to 3.8 inches of rain has fallen at Mary’s Creek in the Pearland and Friendswood areas.  Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

Some locations that will experience flooding include: League City, Texas City, Friendswood, Alvin, Dickinson, La Marque, Santa Fe, Bacliff, Hitchcock, Webster, Nassau Bay, Taylor Lake Village, El Lago, Manvel, Kemah, Bayou Vista, Clear Lake Shores, Arcola, Iowa Colony, Hillcrest, Liverpool, And Bonney.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.

The National Weather Service in League City has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for North Fort Bend County until 8:45 P.M.

At 5:38 P.M. Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail. This storm was located near Sealy and moving east at 15 MPH.

Locations impacted include Sealy, Brookshire, Simonton, San Felipe and Pattison.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions

Severe thunderstorms produce damaging winds in excess of 60 mph, destructive hail, deadly lightning and very heavy rain. For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of your home or business. Heavy rains flood roads quickly so do not drive into areas where water covers the road.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for North Central Fort Bend County until 7:30 P.M.

At 700 P.M. trained weather spotters reported a wall cloud near Fulshear. A tornado may develop at any time. Doppler radar showed this dangerous storm moving east at 15 MPH. Locations impacted include Fulshear.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions

Take cover now. Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If in a mobile home or outdoors, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.

The National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston has issued a Flash Flood Watch from 1 A.M. Friday through Friday afternoon.

Heavy rainfall is expected across the watch area as a strong upper level low moves across Texas Friday. A line of thunderstorms is expected to push through the area early Friday morning with the possibility of storms re-developing over localized areas later in the day.

The National Weather Service generally expects 2-3 inches of rainfall with isolated amounts of 5 inches. Hourly rain rates of 1-2 inches an hour can be expected in stronger storms. The main impacts will be flooding of low lying areas, underpasses, bayous, creeks, and poor drainage areas. Areas north of the Houston metro area may expect lower rainfall amounts of generally 1-3 inches.
