About NEWS (Real-time alerting to landline telephones)
The FBC Alert system is not meant to be a real-time alerting system. For access to a real-time alerting system we use the Neighborhood Early Warning System (NEWS) through the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office. NEWS sends phone messages to landline telephones located within the county. There is no need to sign-up or activate NEWS, as having a landline automatically adds you to the system.
