Tropical Storm Alex poses a threat of imminent disaster along the Texas Coast in the counties of Aransas, Bee, Brooks, Cameron, Duval, Hidalgo, Jim Hogg, Jim Wells, Kenedy, Kleberg, Live Oak, McMullen, Nueces, Refugio, San Patricio, Starr, Webb, Willacy, and Zapata beginning June 27, 2010, and continuing. -

Missouri City Tunes In to New Emergency AM Radio Station (

When emergencies happen, Missouri City residents will soon be able to turn their radio dials to a City station and hear up-to-the-minute reports. At its June 7 meeting, City Council approved the purchase of the Radio Station with an uninterruptible power supply from Information Station Specialists, Inc. of Zeeland, Michigan, for $44,895. A number on the AM dial has not yet been established. The station would transmit traffic updates, emergency weather bulletins, NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) weather information and other types of emergency communications for the Missouri City area. -

Texas Prepared for Potential Effects of Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill (

AUSTIN - Gov. Rick Perry said today Texas is prepared to respond to any effects of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill along the Texas coast. While oil from the spill is not predicted to reach Texas shores in the immediate future, the State Operations Center has remained at an increased readiness level and the state continues to work with federal and local authorities to track the spill and prepare contingency plans.
