HARD FREEZE IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 9 AM CST WEDNESDAY.

STRONG HIGH PRESSURE WILL SETTLE OVER THE SOUTHERN PLAINS BY EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING. VERY COLD AIR WILL CONTINUE TO FILTER INTO SOUTHEAST TEXAS AND A WIDESPREAD HARD FREEZE IS EXPECTED LATER TONIGHT INTO EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING..

HARD FREEZE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 9 AM CST WEDNESDAY.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HOUSTON/GALVESTON HAS ISSUED A HARD FREEZE WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 9 AM CST WEDNESDAY.

A VERY COLD AIR MASS WILL SETTLE OVER SOUTHEAST TEXAS THROUGH THURSDAY. OVERNIGHT LOW TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO FALL INTO THE MID 20S NORTH OF AN EDNA TO BAY CITY TO SANTA FE TO WINNIE LINE.

AREAS CLOSER TO THE BAYS AND INSIDE LOOP 610 WILL BE SEVERAL DEGREES WARMER AND PROBABLY ESCAPE THE HARD FREEZE BUT EVEN THESE AREAS WILL FALL INTO THE UPPER 20S BY MORNING. LOW TEMPERATURES WILL ONLY FALL INTO THE LOWER 30S ALONG THE IMMEDIATE COAST AND ON THE BARRIER ISLANDS. LOW TEMPERATURES WILL FALL BELOW FREEZING BY 11 PM AND FALL INTO THE 20S BY 3 AM...FALLING INTO THE MID 20S AROUND SUNRISE. TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE BETWEEN 23 AND 28 DEGREES FOR ABOUT 3 TO 5 HOURS EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING. HIGH TEMPERATURES ON WEDNESDAY WILL ONLY WARM INTO THE UPPER 40S WITH ANOTHER FREEZE EXPECTED THURSDAY MORNING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS

A HARD FREEZE WARNING MEANS SUB-FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE IMMINENT OR HIGHLY LIKELY. THESE CONDITIONS WILL KILL CROPS AND OTHER SENSITIVE VEGETATION. EXPOSED OR SUSCEPTIBLE WATER PIPES WILL BE IN DANGER OF FREEZING. RESIDENTS SHOULD PROTECT PETS AND PEOPLE.
