Posted December 12, 2010 8:40:31 AM CST
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston has issued a Freeze Warning which is in effect from Midnight tonight to 9:00 AM Monday. High pressure over the region has produced clear skies and light winds. These factors combined with the very dry air mass will allow temperatures to fall into the upper twenties overnight into early Monday morning. More rural locations could see up to 8 hours of below freezing temperatures while locations in the Houston Metropolitan Area could experience about three hours of below freezing temperatures. Preparedness Actions. A freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent or highly likely. Such conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. Residents are encouraged to cover tender plans and vegetation. Take appropriate actions to protect pets. Protect exposed outdoor pipes.
