FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Heat Advisory for Fort Bend County has now been extended until 7 PM CDT Tuesday, August 24. Hot conditions will continue on Tuesday as the upper level ridge of high pressure slowly retreats to the west. Temperatures will reach 98 to 102 degrees inland. High humidity levels and warm temperatures will combine to produce heat index values between 102 and 108 degrees on Tuesday afternoon.
Lower humidity levels are expected to develop over parts of Southeast Texas as a drier air mass infiltrates the region. The timing of this of exactly when this dry air will move into the area is uncertain at this time.
Precautions: If you plan to be outside--- avoid prolonged exposure or strenuous activity. Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration. Wear lightweight and light-colored clothing. Wear a hat to shield yourself from the sun. Use sunscreen to reduce possibility of sunburn. Never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
