Winter Storm Warning for Fort Bend County

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect Thursday evening through Friday morning for all of Southeast Texas. The National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston has issued a Winter Storm Warning which is in effect from 9 PM this evening to Noon CST Friday. Timing: Winter Weather will start tonight and continue through Friday afternoon. Threat: Ice accumulations from sleet and freezing rain of .10 to .25 inches. Main Impact: Accumulating ice will be likely tonight into Friday morning. Initially the precipitation will start out as rain early this afternoon and then transition into freezing rain and ice pellets. Highways and highway bridges will be extremely dangerous. PRECAUTIONARY / PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS Freezing rain on roadways, especially bridges and overpasses, can create patches of black ice. This type of ice is virtually invisible on the road surface, and can cause you to lose control of your car. Travel should be avoided after sunset.
