Richmond, TX - Are you ready to respond if disaster strikes in your community? Fourteen students completed the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training hosted by the Fulshear Ranch Academy and offered by the Fort Bend County Office of Emergency Management, they are ready!
Simulations and hands-on drills provide the core curriculum of the twice-weekly program covering Fire Extinguishment, light Search and Rescue, and First Aid.
Alan Spears, Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator Fort Bend County OEM presented certificates at the June 29, 2012 graduation ceremony and final exercise. Spears commented, "We're extremely proud of our recent CERT Graduates and the hard work and time they've dedicated to complete this course."
The new Fulshear Ranch Academy CERT team tested their skills with the assistance of Fulshear Ranch Academy’s previous CERT graduates and staff as they performed search, rescue, triage and treatment at a mock explosion and simulated building collapse providing both mass casualty skills and patient extrication. The Team established incident command and managed community emergency response efforts until the arrival of career rescuers.
Fort Bend County Office of Emergency Management facilitates a CERT course at The Fulshear Ranch Academy approximately every three to four months through Fort Bend County OEM volunteer programs.
