Fort Bend County
Office of Emergency Management

Reporting Wind Damage

After major storms, the Fort Bend County Office of Emergency Management conducts damage assessments to varying degrees. Ultimately, our damage assessment will include reports from non-profits, private sector, residents, schools, hospitals, etc., and will be shared with the state and federal authorities for disaster reimbursement in our region. You may have seen staff out after an emergency in the OEM vehicles snapping pictures and taking notes. We’re not collecting personal information, just making observations that will be rolled up into a bigger report.

You can help us get a better picture of the extent of damage by sharing photos and notes of the damage with us. You can upload the pictures online, and email us links to them, or simply share them with us on Twitter and Facebook. When you share a damage report, be sure to describe the structure that was damaged, pictures of the damage, and the location of the structure.

Obviously, you will still have to file a claim with your insurance company; we can’t start that process for you, but the photos you take for our reports will be appreciated by your insurance company as well. Insurance companies actually report damage totals to us also.
